PeopleTec is currently seeking a Senior Information Security Engineer for Directed Energy Test Support to support our Huntsville, AL location.

We are seeking a senior information security engineer who is interested in joining an award-winning company and working with cutting edge directed energy programs that are undergoing demonstration, testing, evaluation, and characterization. The selected candidate will be a member of our dynamic Huntsville team and will work on key modernization projects involving Department of Defense directed energy weapons systems, predicting performance, defining requirements, designing architectures, and assessing prototype systems. Our team members represent some of the foremost experts in weapons effectiveness and have the opportunity to work with a wide-ranging group of customers to develop innovative and creative solutions to address the nation's most pressing challenges.

Duties Include:

Provide senior-level information security engineering services and technical leadership to an information security team and lead coordination with customers, test providers, and subcontractor support

Plan and carry out the organization's information security strategy in support of testing directed energy (DE) programs, including High Energy Laser (HEL) and High-Power Microwave (HPM) systems

Lead a team that provides information security support to an organization responsible for the demonstration, testing, evaluation, and characterization of DE systems, to include subsystems and components

Development of a set of information security standards and best practices for the organization and recommend security enhancements as needed Lead the development of strategies to respond to and recover from potential security breaches

Educate the workforce in the area of information security and oversee the completion of DoD mandated training

Develop System Security Plans for the team's information systems, ensuring compliance with NIST requirements

Work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires initiative, attention to detail, independent thought and action, and the ability to thrive as part of a team

Required Skills/Experience:

Experience leading an information security engineering team

Ability to provide insight into the planning, development, and implementation of information security strategies and System Security Plans Experience in the development of security standards and best practices and the ability to recommend security enhancements as needed

Experience in the installation and use of software, such as firewalls and data encryption programs, to protect sensitive information

Ability to lead a team responsible for assisting computer users with installation or processing of new security products and procedures

Knowledge of and experience with the execution of periodic network scans to find vulnerabilities

Experience in the conduct of penetration testing in order to highlight or find weaknesses that might be exploited by malicious parties

Ability to leads incident response activities in the event of a security breach and conduct technical and forensic investigations into how the breach happened and the extent of the damage

Possess an in-depth understanding of knowledge of risk assessment tools, technologies, and methods

Experience in the design of secure networks, systems, and application architectures as well as the implementation of security measures to prevent unauthorized access to electronic data

Possess a thorough understanding of NIST special Publication 800-171 and recommended requirements for protecting the confidentiality of controlled unclassified information (CUI)

Familiarity with the implementation of Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2 for validated cryptology or implementation of National Security Agency- or NIST-approved algorithms

Travel: Up to 15%

Must be a U.S. Citizen

An active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university in a related discipline (engineering, computer science, cybersecurity engineering, software engineering) and 10 years or more of professional experience in systems engineering. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for 3 years of experience.

Desired Skills:

Master's degree plus 10 years of experience performing systems engineering for DoD programs

Background in developmental test or operational test and evaluation for DoD programs

Strong understanding of endpoint security solutions to include File Integrity Monitoring and Data Loss Prevention

Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification and/or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certification
