Our employee owners support our customers by: · Understanding and developing solutions to support emerging needs in a dynamic environment · Planning, implementing, testing, documenting, and maintaining solutions for the integration and testing of products · Maintaining and evolving software architectures and external interfaces to expand capabilities of models and simulations · Supporting flight test analysis, planning, and execution The successful candidate will be an adaptable, agile, experienced senior software engineer, with experience as a software architect. Our selected candidate will be a consummate team player who is capable of spearheading the creation of a software architecture that facilitates the design and integration of software systems to support of DoD weapon systems. The software architect will be a key member of the project leadership team, working with the Product Owner, the Systems Engineering Team Lead, and the Software Development Team Lead to define system requirements, create a compliant architecture, and integrate/develop software components. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess effective communication skills, and have skills and experience with a micro-service-based open systems architecture.

Duties Include:

• Design, develop, and maintain a micro-services-based software architecture capable of operating in a deployed environment across tactical networks
• Specify functional requirements, design computer simulations, client-server architectures, advanced networks/protocols, and databases
• Review and develop technical specifications and standards, to ensure the architecture enables successful integration of subsystems into a microservice-oriented architecture framework
• Plan and create new software modules to implement future capability enhancements as well as respond to changing customer requirements
• Integrate and modify software components and ensure interfaces and languages are optimized and compatible within the overall architecture
• Design and develop advanced networks and protocols, database management systems, and program in high order languages
• Prepare and present briefings to internal and external teammates as well as customers
• Apply science and/or engineering techniques to develop economical solutions to technical problems

Required Skills/Experience:

• Proficiency in common high-order programming languages such as C/C++, C#, and Python and the Windows and Linux operating systems
• Experience in the development and maintenance of microservices and containerization technologies
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in the application of requirements analysis, design and development, unit testing, verification, integration, and reporting
• Prior experience as a software architect on a program that produced a software application for a DoD or similar system
• Experience in quality assurance during the software development and deployment stages
• Sound oral and written communication skills and the ability to clearly present and communicate technical approaches and findings to the team and the government customer
• Experience working in an integrated development environment and using tools like Git, Microsoft Visual Studio, and Azure DevOps
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project)
• Experienced working in and compliance with a CMMI ML3+ environment
• Experienced in applying Lean principles to an Agile lifecycle model
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, team environment
• Travel: Up to 5%
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• An active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in science or engineering or scientific field of study from an accredited college or university and ten years of progressively complex experience in computer software, simulation, integration, advanced networking techniques and protocols, data bases, high-order programming languages, and operating systems A relevant master's degree in engineering or science from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two years of relevant work experience. A relevant PHD degree in engineering or science from an accredited college or university may be substituted for three years of relevant work experience.
