quick discussion about all the software stuff we talk about #12

We are very quick to spin up new software projects, or talk about how we have to make custom software to solve our problems... but I don't think we, as a board, have a really great story around general life cycle management of the projects we talk about doing. It would be nice to get some official groundwork laid on this
