As data and our analyses become more complex, the need to display research and results can exceed the capacity of casual observers or even dedicated conference-goers. Further, at large events, poster presentations are expected to provide an almost-immediate grasp of methods and results to viewers. Such expectations can only be met with graphic and/or multimedia displays of data and methods. Data visualization has moved to prominence in recent years, and TechMill recognizes the need for an introduction to data visualization.
Individuals outside the visual arts may have no awareness nor instruction in the methods for designing attractive, intuitive, easily understood graphics. This short course is an introduction to simple and specific design guidelines that will enhance the visual display of information and research.
