Bathroom fan & audio automation #23

Last year, we installed a bathroom fan on a switch to help deal with moisture. Problem is, it either doesn't get used or it gets left on.

Oh, and it's fancy too. The fan has a bluetooth speaker 😂

My thought was to add a Aeotec multisensor to detect, among other things, humidity.

Then I picked up a GE Z-Wave fan control to control it, and a GE Z-Wave switch. I asked my go-to contractor try to install it, but he didn't have much luck. Also, it turned out that the fan control is really for multi-speed fan, and this one is just on-and-off.

Since that first attempt, I added an Echo Dot to the room, and have it paired to speaker/fan. This works pretty well for listening to music while getting ready for the day or showering, but you have to remember to turn the fan on still.

I'm thinking something an scene exposed to Alexa, that turns on the fan so you can start playing some music. "Alexa, turn on shower mode" or something.

Replacing the dot with a Sonos One might actually be a better experience, but then the fancy bluetooth fan speaker is for naught 😂

In any event, I need to find somone that can do the electrical work. Also, probably should replaster that area because it was a mess after the fan was initially installed 😓
