Setup hue motion detector for Kitchen #25

A few things to do here:

Got some tips from maddox:

there’s a dev type mode you can put it in, so it will blink a light every time it senses motion. Look it up and use it in the app. That way you don’t have to wait for time outs just to test motion. set it on things testing the best spot before affixing it to the wall and ensure every entry way of your kitchen can get hit by it. and it won’t be blockd whiel you’re USING the kitchen i didn’t affix mine permenantly for like 2 weeks

That's under Settings, Accessory setup, tap the sensor, Advanced settings, motion sensitivity. After enabling that, the light will blink when it detects motion.

use Hue app to create scenes for different modes you want it in. Then you’ll want to apply those scenes to different time blocks within the day. program it with iconnecthue though, it’ll give you more time blocks. Hue app only has 2, which is freaking worthless.

here's my setup:

the only react to motion if groups are off is crucial. otherwise, if you change their mode, motion will trigger the scene again. and you can’t overide them.

this part is the scene i have picked when it’s triggered during that time block.
Kitchen Nightlight is the scene, in the Kitchen hue group

I tried setting up the motion sensor on top of the front door's frame. It does catch the door opening, or walking in from the side. The side door, and kitchen area doesn't seem quite as sensitive unfortunately. Needs more testing.

Worth noting there is a hue lab for using multiple sensors in the same room.
