As we discussed on IRC, I would find it useful to have a variable type which passes the contents of the current region, and the current nrepl-region-for-expression-at-point. I suspect that if this takes off, there will be a lot of elisp-side logic people will want, and it will be hard to anticipate, so some flexible way of specifying new variable types would be good.
