Project maintenance status? #76

Hi, thanks for a very nice and useful library. It doesn't seem like it's been maintained for a while though (last commit to master was more than 1 year ago, with several unanswered PRs since then). Are you looking for new maintainers?

pombredanne commented 2 years ago

I am willing to help too.

@techtonik I hope everything is fine for you. For now I will push something like patch2 if this is OK with you and I will look and likely merge several of the pending PR in https://github.com/nexB/python-patch2 This is a friendly and temporary fork!

@pombredanne everything is going to be very f*d up in my life soon, and if it is not already, that's only thanks to my parents. This code is MIT licensed, so feel free to adopt it as you'd like. There is also a fork made by JFrog https://github.com/conan-io/python-patch-ng

I am glad that people find this code more useful than the code written by other people. Maybe I was just first to squat this name. Sorry that I can not support you.

@techtonik would you (or anybody) be able to give access to your repository to people like @pombredanne or @conan-io, so that maintenance can continue in a community manner?

We should also find anyone recently active on these projects and see if they are interested in helping maintain it.

It would be good to link to other projects, too, if there are others.

To tell the truth, I don't think I can explain why I can not trust people with this repo without hiring a shrink. But..

I am based in Belarus (which is a leper country now), and with the income of $100 a month I just can not afford it.

Use the fork, @xloem. Let this project be my grave. I guess that's my final wish. Open Source is a religion, but not a church, so until it learns to collect money to support its beliefs like catholics do, I guess it needs to make some graveyards with tombstones to read. Then some next generation hackers will find the solution.

I'm really sorry to hear that, @techtonik. Hope things get better for you.

It would be helpful if you add a note about this in the README, and/or archive the repository on Github.
