I admit loading is not the fasted but slow loading could also be caused by your
SD
card. Loading was very slow for me (I also had many random crashes) using a
micro-SD
card. Using a regular SD card loading is faster and stability is near perfect.

I've noticed in recent builds around RC7 on that it seems much much slower all
around
than it ever did before. I believe the UI gets bogged down because of the
threads
that load the covers, but wow it's really slow for about 30-45 seconds while it
loads
the covers. It was much faster in RC6 with the 3d covers.

Well, I've got a lot of games definitely, but the loader definitely has
decreased in
speed in RC7/RC7U1 and the number of games has stayed the same. No big deal
though.
Update: rev 709 is faster again, without anyone having done anything for
loading
speed as far as I can tell. Is it possible it's slower or faster depending on
who's
compiling it?

Just to bring this up, as jhof81 has stated and as you can see on the thread on
gbatemp there is a huge speed difference in cover loading between revisions,
and im
sure its to do with something in the libary of the build.
Ive got the latest source code and then just tried to re-build r709 which i had
saved
away.
The compile ive done of R709 runs like a dog with very slow cover loading, but
the
compile that jhof81 has of r709 runs great and the covers load instantly.

Just done some more testing and 2d covers load fine with the latest builds, the
covers load instantly. Switch to 3d and it lags like crazy. R709 loads 2d and 3d
covers instantly. Hope this is of some assistance.
