v4.0.0 Firefox Issues (4-9-2024) #555

I'm not sure if anybody else has been having issues on Firefox with the new update, but it has been producing memory leaks that bring RAM use temporarily up to 75-83%. I've also noticed when renaming or editing bookmarks that there is a noticeably longer delay before it finalizes the changes once "Save" has been clicked. If a bookmark is deleted from one tab and you view another bookmarked tab, there is a delay before the star icon turns blue to indicate you have that page bookmarked and are permitted to view or modify it further. There are other general lag issues as well.

Most of these issues seem to be when the actual settings tab for the addon is presently opened.

Also, whenever I change the default bookmarking location to another folder, it tends to not use it and instead refers to the previous setting - even when it says a new location is applied and even after restarting the browser. Not sure how I got it to choose a location in the first place.

I have been seeing about 5-10 seconds lag between clicking the bookmark icon and the bookmark being moved to the selected default folder (on Arch Linux with Firefox 126.0). Unfortunately, this ends up moving it to the selected default folder after that time even if I manually changed to a different folder meanwhile. It seems like it has been worse lately, although I'm not certain when this started happening or if it was an extension update or Firefox update that first caused the issue.

Luckily (and I mostly wanted to write here to mention this to anyone else looking at the issues due to this problem who forgot about this) our benefactor has included the quick bookmark functionality via a separate icon and that works great for my use. I now change the built-in bookmarking settings to "no folder selected" and just use the quick bookmark functionality, which works immediately and can be edited immediately via the built in bookmark icon (or I can just use that icon when I want to set the location manually).
