Sorry for the delayed response -- some of what you experienced here was due to bugs in the BlueBus firmware rather than an incompatibility with these radios. Can you try this firmware build? https://t3ddftw.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/BlueBus/firmware/bluebus_1_3_3_rc27.hex
Please let me know what you find!
I decided to attempt to see if the BlueBus could be compatible with the Becker made BMW Traffic Pro (euro version BE4769) and BMW Indianapolis Pro (BE7969). Both have iBus connections and are compatible with iBus CD Changers. There are plenty of Bluetooth adapters for these radios that act as an Aux-in audio source, but I was hoping to get the BlueBus working because I have an original car phone installed that I would like to run with BlueBus (after I get BT audio working).
Neither worked consistently and has a lot of random issues.
A few interesting observations:
On the BMW Traffic Pro, It's inconsistent whether the BlueBus is recognized as just an Aux-in or a CDC. Other functions on the radio work. If the Traffic Pro detects BlueBus as a CDC, the controls for next / previous track works. However, if it's working as a CDC, it will randomly crash the BlueBus.
On the BMW Indianopolis Pro, It is never detected as a Aux-in source. However, Once the BlueBus establishes connection, the entire radio doesn't function and stays on the BlueBus driven menu / screen. None of the buttons work to change the radio's function. Music is able to play with information scrolling on the screen. Music is controllable on my phone, but after maybe 15 seconds, the BlueBus crashes / restarts.
Radio screen before connection is fully established:
Radio screen after connection is established and no other button works:
When I run the "get err" command, I see there are errors with Address Failure and Last Trap
With all logging enabled, I can see a steady stream of iBus signals
I've tried toggling ign, pwroff, and dsp input to different setting to see if anything would help. It seems to be stable longer when I manually set it to dsp input analog
ui is set to 1 (CD53). It doesn't work in any other setting
if I set tel on, both units lock up on the phone screen
Here is a screenshot of the logs where it's doing it's thing then crashes / reboots
My guess is that these radios are not liking the iBus instructions for one reason or another since when the BMW Traffic Pro can't see it as an CDC and an Aux-in, it works like any other Aux-in BT adapter. What's the best way for me to record more detailed logging to share / track down where it's failing?
This is also my second BlueBus unit (I had an old version on another car which has since been sold) and I haven't been able to test it on another car. The car I'm trying to get this working on is an E36 Touring with the iBus wire and iBus CD changer harness retrofitted.
