5 years ago your patch does nothing: all you have is an input and an output. You need to have something happening in between those. Add a 'random value' and 'HSB Color' node.

I'm using Klak patch to try and change material colors on a mesh and particle system in the same patch to two different output respectively. Wires randomly disconnect, see attached video for reference.
