basically, i unlocked my iphone using the instructions giving and it
worked fine, but as soon as itunes updated it to 1.1.2 problems occur.
i think the update bricked my phone, everytime i plug the phone into a
computer, the computer produces a message like this -
'usb device connected to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does
not recognize it'
and that happens on other pc's aswell, so i guess its the iphone's problem.
Effectively itunes cannot recognize it, and i cannot restore my iphone, on
top of that, i cannot access the installer application to try and
virginize my phone or do anything with it, i am really stuck, can someone
help me?

Same thing here on an XP sp2 box. timeline: 1.0.2 unlock/activate; upgrade to
1.1.1; used anysim for 1.1.1 -- failed. My computer wont recognize the device
on
any usb ports. tried looking in device manager to delete the instance but
didnt
find any relevant identifiers. I have a feeling it might be due to the
applemobiledevice.dll or other registered service residing. After downgrading
from
7.4.1 to 7.3.x; my machine still wont recognize the device. Any ideas??

Try with a clean xp installed PC and just install iTunes 7.4 etc or now you can
try
to upgrade your itunes to 7.5 to see whether 7.5 can detect the phone or not.

if this is a phone issue, try dfu mode to downgrade to a working version (1.0.2
or
1.1.1):

attach iphone directly to an usb port of your pc, turn the iphone off, hold
home, tap
sleep (half a second or so), keep home held for 10-12secs and release. itunes
will
recognise it in dfu mode then and you can restore it to any firmware you like.

warning: this will remove all your data!
