is this a word for 'spirituality'?

From the example text:

A ua isei el llomeserreng a diak le ngar a eanged el mei; ng bai di tekoi er a beluulchad, e diak el tekoi er a klereng, e ng tekoi er a mekngit el chelid. Such wisdom does not come down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.

Kede medengei el kmo a Llach a klereng; e ngdi ngak a chad el mo mad, el mloterau el sibai er a klengit. For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am a man who will die, sold under sin. Also the expression NGAR ER A KLERENG seems to mean “be spiritual.”

These are all from Chedaol Biblia, and I wonder if it is an invented word based on normal Palauan patterns to fit the translation need. It seems to be KL- + RENG (“spirit” in this context), and therefore a noun, and it seems, as smith-371 says, to mean “spirituality or spiritual thing.”

Any native Palauans use this word?

Chris, I know that other translations also exist, this is not the only version. Moreover, this online text contains some misspellings, mostly concerning the prefixed pronouns.

Chris, I know that other translations also exist, this is not the only version. Moreover, this online text contains some misspellings, mostly concerning the prefixed pronouns.

Okay, I am just trying to specify. I have only seen two Palauan translations, and the one on Bible.is seems to be the more common one. Sorry if I seem repetitive.

So it is basically an ecclesiastical/church word? Does tekinged include technical words or jargon? That is what this word seems to fit, perhaps along with kloumerang (#366).

Two questions I have:

  1. Is it possible the Bible translators made up words because Palauan words didn’t exist and they didn’t want to use English words?
  2. If so, should we include them?

Maybe our existing process is good enough. We want two confirmations for each newly added word. The Bible can be one and then we need someone else to know the word or some other verification.

Spiritual or Spirit is chelid, Spiritual Mla Masch a chelid er ngii. Your point Bent is probably spot on, as if they would have translated as so, it would be out of context what’s being conveyed in the Bible. My thoughts…nowadays nobody prays in full Belauan to the end, it’s PalNglish. Should be include them? Maybe a tab for Bibilia? Like we have Japanese…?
