MENGEREKARD #386

Dictionary has it as 'shout or yell

image

But Charlene and @Gnalu say it means continuously:

mengerekard er a sils - continuously in the sun mengerekard er a chull - continuously in the rain mengerekard er a kerrasem - continuously cold mengerekard er a diu - continuously shouting [NOTE: dictionary has this without the 'er']

Charl says the perfectives (korekerdii and kirrekerdii) do mean yell. But then she also says that you can use the perfectives with other words and they mean something more similar to continuously again:

Ng mla korekerdii a kerrasem. He was in a situation where he was getting cold and now he's back.

I have no idea what to do with this. Any thoughts?

These words and expressions appear under MENGARD. Perhaps they are related. They have a similar construction.

menga(ng) also has two meanings: to eat, and do smth continually or more intensive.

Gnalu commented 1 year ago

@smith-371 , I think you meant ‘mengal’ like mengal Mla mo hidoi! Getting to be too much! Mengal Mla mo kikiongel. It’s getting really filthy.

Mengang is eating. Mengelngang, eating continuously.

Agree with mengang as eating and mengal as explained by Mar.

Also, becoming more of something, or a state of something increasing: mengal mla mo merkos - getting sweeter mengal merrengang - more embarrassed mengal mekersemang - getting colder mengal cheridang - getting further away

With regards to mengerkard:

I know mengerkard ra diu - yelling, screaming

With sils, chull and kerrasem - I personally have only used and heard menga(ng) and mengard as in the examples from Tekinged shared above...

MENGAL you said about looks like just a contraction of MENGA EL

Gnalu commented 10 months ago

mengal:omerollel el mong seselk a rengul a Ulang meng mengal mla ngmasch a rengul. Ulang's irritation is escalating to serious madness. :D

menga el becomes mengal: escalating; changing up; turning into...(description of emotions

Even though it has menga as in eating...mengang in eating starts with 'o'===omengang.
