Alii! Just trying to track down the meaning of the name of the "70 islands" reserve, and have been told by some Palauans that "70 islands" is a mistranslation of a word that is similar to "okeuid" but means snack or bento (Ngerukeuid was a place that people stopped on the way back and forth between Beleliou and Oreor to take a break and have a snack, maybe?). Currently, "Okeuid" only directs to "70" on Tekinged, but is there a similar-sounding word that has the meaning more similar to snack? ... maybe a form of "okau"? Like "okeuil/okuil"? So maybe it's "our food for a journey"?
... if that's the case, and if "okeuid" is a valid spelling, it could be helpful to offer that as an alternate definition?
Sulang!
