Mechikung / Mechikau #500

Tres Rdulaol's 1979 song Bambangia has the line "Mak ultoir mak di mechikau." Yoichi Rengiil told me today that mechikau comes from mechikung or mechikang and means to "leave you." In Tekinged, mechikung (v.s.pred.)and mechikang (v.s.inch.) are just by themselves (no related root). I'm wondering if the root of these two words is "mocha,"? and what exactly is the root of "mechikau"?, Can you also say "mechikak, mechikii, mechikid, mechikam, mechikir, etc."?

Mechikau: for a person, derived from mechei, medechel, leave behind. Hard to explain. Bobecherei tilechal klalo e dorael. Leave that thing and let’s go. Bobechikii a Ulang e dorael. Leave Ulang be and let’s go. Mechikung- good bye. Mechikang- later. Mak mo mechikau? So I leave you be? Hope it helps…

Tres Rdulaol's 1979 song Bambangia has the line "Mak ultoir mak di mechikau." Yoichi Rengiil told me today that mechikau comes from mechikung or mechikang and means to "leave you."

I think it is more from the words mechei and becherei or bechei. All of these are about leaving something or someone be. Mechei: Ke di mechei a blatong e ak mo melib. Leave the dishes and I'll do them. Becherei: 1) Ak mla subedii a Ulang me becherei. I've already informed Ulang so leave her be. Or I've already informed Ulang so let it go. 2) Merko dorael e becherei a cheldecheduch. 3) Famous Palauan saying: Becherei a kerisil e ng ngerchelek. Bechei: More of a plural form of becherei

I'm wondering if the root of these two words is "mocha,"? Mocha means "about to" or "almost" and in some context "finally" Ng mocha temel a belsol. It's almost dinner time. A kol mocha oureor. I am finally working.

and what exactly is the root of "mechikau"?, I would say "mechei"

Can you also say "mechikak, mechikii, mechikid, mechikam, mechikir, etc."? Yes. But instead of "mechikam" it would be "mechikemam" and "mechikir" would be "mechititerir" If it's a conversation between two people, one would say to "Bechikak e morael" or "Bechikemam (plural) e morael" and bechititerir
