Chelbam, Chelbek #511

In Sylvia Tangelbad's song Nanasung is the line "Chelbam el kmo te ngar ngii a rebekeu loltoir a rechad." Yoichi Rengiil told me that this translates to "we thought that ..." He gave another example to say "chelbek el kmengiil eng diak komei." It looks like this explanation could fit with the definition of chelbel in Kerresel: chelbel a diak lodengei a sesaod, ng diak lodengei telngachet, kede mesaod e ngii a chelbel. What is the noun that is the unpossessed root of chelbek, chelbel, chelbam?

The problem with cheleuid and chouid is that we already have cheludul as the possessive form whereas this word seems to be chelbel. What is the difference between chelbel and cheludul?

Also, is this very similar to common usage of 'rengul'? For example, if I see someone in the village but I thought they were off-island, I could say to them, "A renguk ke off-island engdi ke bai ngar a tiang." So, this seems very similar. Are they different somehow?

"a chelbek" appears to be similar in usage to "a renguk" but perhaps the "thought" comes from a different place (my feelings vs. something deeper). I think that chelbek/l/am comes from chalb, but instead of a place in the house where secrets are kept, it is deep in your psyche (or soul) ... so perhaps feelings/thoughts not readily shared?

I know this to refer to when one is unaware of something, like something happening unbeknownst to them.

Te mla merael e ngak a chelbek.

A ki dengchokl el chelbam e tir a mei el remiid.

I hear people using "cheldeng" as well in the same context.
