I found it in fb publications: BLIL A TONG = 'toilet',

I know, blil is 'the house of', but what is TONG here?

I wonder if it's misspelled. Tuong is the word for using the restroom, I believe, particularly for number 2.

Jelga, I thought about it too. but TUONG is a verb, and BLIL A TUONG looks some awkward... that's why I decided to ask here.

johnbent@gmail.com replied,

Isn't this pretty close to standard vowel reduction then to reduce from TUONG to TONG?

Oh, but sounds like we don't yet have confirmation that 'blil a tong' even means toilet in the first place.

Aleks, it seems to already be confirmed actually by the PP dictionary:

Oh yeah, we don't say "blil a tuong" to refer to restrooms and yes, "tuong" is definitely a verb. The word for restroom is "orchertoll" though you rarely hear it unless it's a really old person. The more commonly used word is "benjo."

Tuong is from Tuobed because when you relieve yourself, there’s stuff that makes an exodus. You also say “ak mo tuong” because you’re going outside to relieve yourself.

It’s one of my favorite Palauan puns that I never get to use because nobody will realize I’m being punny.

Benjo Kekerei el Blai Chorechertoll

I’ve heard these but never specifically “Blil a Tuong/Tong”. That sounds awk. But maybe it’s because I’ve never heard it used as it was phased out IF it was indeed used. T
