[Feature Request] Add possibility to send silent messages by default #16363

Is your feature request related to a problem?

It's a bit too many actions needed to send a lot of messages silently. Sometimes I want to send some information to my friend at night, but don't want to wake him up, for example.

Describe the solution you'd like

Possibility to make my messages silent by default in settings. So instead of "send without sound" there will be "Send with sound".

Describe alternatives you've considered

It's possible to make such a thing scheduled, but it looks too difficult (in the case of UI).

There is an option to add shortcut for sending messages silently in shortcuts-custom.json in your tdata profile folder. This option called message_silently

As a workaround, you can try to override the keyboard shortcut for message_silently, maybe switch it to ENTER also works

Came here to create same request. For a perfect case it might be a setting for all desktop/mobile/web versions to reverse sound behaviour: send silent message by default, and send loud by "send with sound" per-message option.

Hey there!

This issue was inactive for a long time and will be automatically closed in 30 days if there isn't any further activity. We therefore assume that the user has lost interest or resolved the problem on their own.

Don't worry though; if this is an error, let us know with a comment and we'll be happy to reopen the issue.

Thanks!

Still necessary. Can configure shortcut for silent messages at desktop, but nothing like that in Android app :(

I too, find it too much of a hustle to keep spamming RMB & "Send without sound" every time I want to send something without disturbing the others. I propose to add in the "Chat Settings" a checkbox to enable "Send messages silently on Ctrl+Enter" (or Shift+Enter). That's the simplest fix for me. Or give users some options in a drop-down menu, instead of a checkbox (or combine them).

P. S. Just tried "message_silently" & "message_scheduled". After removing commented out example and last comma and restarting Telegram, everything (shortcuts) started working like a charm.

Why is this taking so much time to implement? This feature probably requires ~30 lines of code.

I really need it both for Telegram Desktop and Mobile. I don't want people to get notifications ever.

if you want it on all apps, maybe you can sugest it on bugs.telegram.org

Already there, not enough traction:

I would also love for this to happen, also mostly on mobile

Send without sound by default would be convenient.

Additionally it would be useful if it could be 'always send without sound by default between 22:00 and 08:00' or some options like that.

Could be possibly a channel setting that admin could set.... (yes a feature creep  )
