Poor UI indicating admin status in groups #16911

Closed agentydragon closed 2 years ago

agentydragon commented 3 years ago

Steps to reproduce

  1. visit any group as a non-admin
  2. attempt to find an admin (let's say someone is spamming the group and you need admin attention)
  3. open userlist
  4. see only this star marking an admin:

Untitled

  1. user does not understand this star is not a Unicode character, and rather an admin marker, so user can't find an admin

For context, I have been trying to find an admin to ban & delete tons of gore someone was spamming in a group, so this issue prevented me from contacting the admin and getting this resolved faster.

Expected behaviour

The admins/moderators should be marked such that users can unambiguously and quickly see who is an admin. On the Android client, this marker looks like this: Untitled2

Unlike the star on the Linux client, this clearly says "Owner".

Actual behaviour

The Linux client shows just a star. The star is just attached to the admin's username, so it can be very easily confused for just an emoji in the user's name. It's not even right-aligned.

Furthermore, there's not even any tooltip on the star, so the only way the user can realize they're the admin is if they just happen to randomly know it.
