Same issue on Windows 10, so perhaps it's not OS-specific. It happens even after auto-update of TDesktop a few minutes ago (v 5.1.7). Actually, the same issue exists on Android - I need to open the channel to see that it has any new message. "Alternatively", to refresh all channels at once, I have to close the app and start it again - for both Windows and Android again.
Update. Just found that for Android even restart may not help. I can also say that channels which I subscribed are in folders, "archived", and have notifications switched off - so, circle is not blue but grey. But at least a week ago everything worked well. Android received this bug first, and a couple of days ago it appeared also on Windows.
Probably the issue appeared after recent telegram outage on June 8.
Same problem on Windows 10. It started around June 6, before massive Telegram failure. Messages appear either when restarting the application (all messages for all channels) or when clicking on a channel (messages appear only for the channel you clicked on). After restarting the application messages come automatically without any problems for about 15 minutes then they stop coming again. Going back to older versions doesn't help. This problem is also present on Android.

@alexgfi Judging by the logs I've received this looks like a server side issue :( Checking with the server side developers.

I've been dealing with this issue for about three months now, and nothing has helped to resolve it. The problem persists across Windows 10, Android, and Arch Linux, so it's clear that it is somehow related to the account rather than the application.

I've given up and am no longer waiting for this problem to be fixed because some people have had this problem since the beginning of 2023. I made a task in Windows Task Scheduler that restarts Telegram every ten minutes with a bat file. Now this is the only way I can get fresh channel notifications that are very important to me.
In view of the incompetence of the developers and the irrepressible desire of the management to monetize human greed, instead of solving real problems of users, the only correct solution is to refuse to use telegram. Telegram must die!))

Та же проблема. С мая месяца проявилась у меня. Обновления не помогают. На андроиде периодически замечаю, не всегда.

@PROREPAIR I reported this to the server side team and they're working on it (at least I was told they do), so there is nothing I (developer) can do about this now.
@john-preston I don't understand this. Do the desktop and mobile apps use different APIs? Mobile apps have no problems updating channels.
@PROREPAIR For me mobile apps have the same problem. Mobile versions of Telegram perform a "restart" on startup after a certain period of time if it is not used (even if there is enough free RAM) and in this case the channels are updated. If there was no restart then the mobile app has exactly the same problem. Many people on bugs.telegram.org have complained about this problem for the mobile versions of the app.

На 02.09.2024 все так же не работает уведомление о новых постах в каналах, причем у меня на 2х ПК с Windows 10 стоит телега, на одном показывает, на втором нет. Переустановка не помогла. Помогает вырубить и включить телегу, и так приходится делать по 10 раз на день. После перезапуска час-два работает, потом снова перестают приходить уведомления.
Снёс винду по случаю и несколько первых сообщений пришли с обычными уведомлениями и после этого снова забагались. Так же хочу заметить, что даже после сноса винды забагались ровно те же самые каналы.

Got this issue previous week. Before it happened, I deleted a lot of old messages and chats. Maybe it's not related, but before it everything works ok.
Please check 5.5.4 version, I fixed at least one issue with new messages in channels not appearing.
I have not updated to 5.5.4 version and as of today the problem is gone. Looks like a server side issue.
@reallyuniquename yes, there was one fix from the server-side and some improvements from the client-side to tackle the same problem. Thanks for confirming.

nothing happens, the admin posts something, the circle does not appear, if you click on the group, then all posts are displayed
This error appeared after the update from 06.06.2024, reinstalling to older versions did not help
In the video, you can see that I'm in the menu, and there are no notifications. I go in, and a notification about a new post appears immediately, even though it was posted a long time ago.
