I also have this problem

Marzal commented 5 years ago

Telegram Desktop (in Arch Linux) was working OK since the beginning (a long time) until last weak this bug started appearing. Thanks to this comment https://github.com/telegramdesktop/tdesktop/issues/6005#issuecomment-493203059 I changed the language to spanish in the app, and the bug is gone. Then I changed back to english and the bug is still gone, and the scrolling works.

I can confirm that the bug is still present in version 1.8.15 on Lubuntu 18.04. The workaround mentioned by Marzal about switching languages worked!

Same bug (telegram version 1.9.9) on elementary OS 5.1

You don't even need to close the lid. Just leave laptop untouched for some time. There are two ways to fix it:

Telegram v 2.2 Xubuntu 18.04

ilya-fedin commented 4 years ago

meh, this still doesn't give a light why that happens :(

asimonenkov commented 4 years ago

I also have this problem on Ubuntu 18.04 with Telgram Desktop 2.4.2

mahenzon commented 4 years ago

Persists on 20.04 too

ilya-fedin commented 3 years ago

This sounds like a bug in Qt's xcb backend, other Qt apps should be affected as well
