ffmpeg issue [54.56.56 vs 55.57.57] #9

My system just got updated where a few things needed to upgrade ffmpeg to 55.57.57 and the only package that fails to install now is sky

media-video/ffmpeg-2.8.10:0/54.56.56::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by media-video/ffmpeg:0/54.56.56[X] required by (net-im/sky-2.1.6566.1:0/0::telred, ebuild scheduled for merge)

is there a way to fix this?

I created a bug report for this in our helpdesk system. We will email you when it's fixed. We will also make a proper Gentoo package.

@telred are using debian package which is a bit outdated. My way to solve this was creating an ebuild with ubuntu/yakkety package. I had trouble because libjpeg, ubuntu version requires jpeg-8 while the default jpeg in gentoo is libjpeg-turbo. But it is possible to switch to jpeg-8.

First, thanks for the response. This is a pretty hacky was of solving this as there are good reasons to use libjpeg-turbo. Would it be possible for you to create a debian package using the updated ffmpeg?

Bug on helpdesk is open since 14 days for ffmpeg..... When will there be a fix ?

Bug is relevant for Version 2.1.6571 too

Bug issue is related to media-video/ffmpeg 3.2.4 version bump.

Still there same for 6633. ffmepg is not slotted and I'm not going to downgrade it. The bug is open for 2 months with no progress or update.

I should probably just ask my customers to use a normal browser (https://meet.jit.si/).

This issue seems to be fixed in the new net-im/sky-ng packages. I have 2.1.6669.1_alpha installing without issue. I assume the ng stands for "native gentoo".
