this seems perfectly fine, but do want to check with @ludwigschubert or @colah since I haven't personally used the scratch folder for a while

@enjalot thanks for checking; there's no real rules in scratch, and we likely didn't check in those lock files intentionally, so I believe we're fine to merge.
