It works for me when I test.

Does it work when use ssh into the remote computer outside of tmux?
Can you try ssh:ing into the mac from another computer under tmux, to see if it works there (and the problem is Termux-specific)?

It does work without Tmux in both sides but when I only open Tmux in remote computer inside tmux-less shell it doesn't work.
It works on all scenarios, with or without Tmux. Tested on Ubuntu.
