added active link to li in side-nav #103

This should resolve #24

I also changed the markup in the layout slightly to make the JS work.

Thanks! Looks good, except when it first loads (at /t2-start/, when no path is selected), they all take on the characteristic of active:

Oops!

I went ahead and made step 1 show active when on the root. I think that's probably a better user experience.
