Cannot create or import Player Characters #272

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.When I try to create a basic Player Character race (Dwarf, Blood Elf, Gnome,
etc)
2.When I try to import a Player Character from Armory
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
WMV is supposed to load/create the Player Character race as soon as I click the
type of race I want to create or import the Character from Armory. Instead, the
game takes so long to load that I must forcefully close the program since it's
consuming way too many resources from my computer.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
ver. 0.7.0.1 r640 on Windows Vista.

Please provide any additional information like screenshot and log.txt
below.

There is no log because I have to close to the program through the task manager
before it completes the log (the program "crashes").

I've been noticing this lag too on my dev versions. If you wait long enough, it
DOES start to work, but at a very slow pace.

Not sure what's causing it, but I've found that it goes away on it's own soon
enough. If you're not happy with waiting it out, try rebooting your computer.

Do you think that using a more powerful computer should improve the situation?
I have a decent desktop with more power than my laptop, but if the problem
comes from the program and not exactly the hardware, then I'll have to wait
till this "bug" is fixed.

@ sephiroth3d : are you sure version you upload (r640) is build on release mode
?

I've downloaded the program from this website, from this list:

@Tony: No, I don't think a more powerful computer would fix this issue. I'm
doing my dev-work on a (now old, but powerful) desktop, and it's having this
issue.

@Jeromnimo Yes. I have it delete, then build a clean directory that it then
places the compiled files into. It doesn't do that for the debug build.

Whatever is causing this affects both the debug and release builds of WMV. It
seems most prevalent when dealing with MPQ files. (Loading or loading a file
from.)
