unplayable lags after updating to v9

Describe the bug/issue

The Performance overall is just poor. I am using a Laptop with a 90Hz Display but the framerate feels more like 20fps at all times. During gameplay it also won't get better, but after getting a PC and trying to continue to play the framerate drops below 1fps it almost feels like a freeze and obviously is unplayable. I have tried reinstalling and also changing the Graphics settings to High Performance but nothing has changed. I also tried using WebGL1 but still the same. The Browser Version runs smoothly but has high Input Lag, so it must be a problem with the v9 desktop app. Also the ingame FPS counter shows a value between 60 and 100 most of the time, but it doesn't feel like this at all. It's way worse.

Reproducing

I have just run the game on my ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED, with 90Hz using the v9 Desktop client. After getting PC (I tried it in Zen) the framerate drops even further.

Expected behavior

I expect the game to run smoothly without almost freezing or perceivable Lag.

v9 lags on my machine despite it being a GTX 1660 Ti video card and 11th gen i9-11900K CPU... it should not lag.

I have the same issue on Asus Swift 3, using tetr.io desktop. Very noticeable jump in lag since updating (I played right before updating as well so I know it's the update causing it). Several seconds of input lag, both in solo and multiplayer modes. Sometimes it gets better and is playable for a few minutes, but it's very inconsistent.

Same here with a i3 1115G4 integrated graphics, unplayable lag, but gets fixed once i'm in a match and i alt tab a few times makes openers harder to do fast enough, but the rest of the game is doable with alt-tabbing

Same issue on Linux after updating. Works fine on 'minimal' graphics settings. Note: for me the lag already happens in the main menu right when you start the application.

Same here. On Windows 10 with low graphics, CPU (i5-8400) is always at 100% after updating to v9. On v8 it's at about 50-60%.

i found a (small) fix

SET IT TO 10%, reduces lag but there still might be; just use minimal 4 now

oh btw for some reason ultra setting works the best (which is not minimal) so try that

it appears to be some particle issue as turning up particles creates more lag while lowering it makes it more consistent ?

V8 won't be maintained forever. TETR.IO's Beta (in development) already uses web technologies unavailable on V8, which itself is based on 4 year old Chromium.

I recommend everyone who had v8 + tetr.io plus to completely uninstall tetrio and install it again, report if this fixes any issues.

I have reinstalled, same issue.

When I installed v9 and installed v8 afterward, Surprisingly v8 had frame drops afterward too. Something about v9 is affecting v8

don't know about that, i downgraded to v8 just fine, so i don't know what could be the issue. but yeah they really need to fix the lag

Yeah it doesn't lag 4 me if i uninstall the game files right but if u dont delete the foldiers with game files itll still lag.

I have the same issue on my Zenbook 14 OLED, although I've plugged in my RTX4060 eGPU. It is lagging when displaying animation (like animation in menu and player got K.O.), GPU usage increase to 80% during laggy.

I just recently updated to v9 and it goes from 180 fps to under 40 fps. I thought it was just me lol. Good to know other people are also facing the same problem.

a had the same issue , but i think i found a solution , since my pc can handle titrio and its still laggy , i downloaded an app called DNSjumper , it let change your dns to more faster one , i did it and it work for me , just download the app and change your DNS to cloudflare dns which i think its the best Dns for gaming , i dont if it will work for evryone but here the link if you are intersted -https://www.lesnumeriques.com/telecharger/dns-jumper-20584

The issue is fps not ping lol

@jasonthekiller1996 it’s not the specs, I can play fine in a browser, but still get unplayable frame drops on my 3 year old gaming laptop, which - being that it can run flight sim 2020 at high settings - you would expect could run Tetris.
