Sometimes I want to take a break in the middle of a (single-player) game

Describe the solution you'd like

Some method of pausing the game.

Using Tetr.io+ you can extract the sfx and you can see that there is a pausing sfx, hopefully it'll be implemented soon :)

I would love to see this feature implemented. It seems like a very basic thing, especially useful when you're solo and life happens.

Also, in Multiplayer same question except there the only option is to keep the game playing while the pause menu is open :^) Well, unless we make it so room hosts can pause the game, but that seems janky

Nonetheless, this is a set-in-stone part of the Beta roadmap. I'd love to hear more opinions on the best solution for the above, though.

Since 40 Lines and Blitz are ranked, the only reasonable game modes, that can have a pause option is Zen and Custom.

But, if people really need that in 40 Lines and Blitz, i think we can do option 2, but with some sort of pause cooldown.

And ummm... Pause menu in Multiplayer? Tbh i don't think that makes sense.

From my experience in playing singleplayer stackers:

Regarding multiplayer pausing:

We should definitely only allow multiplayer pausing in custom rooms, though.

Personally, I don't think you should be allowed to pause in 40L or Blitz at all(so, option 3). The latter mode is literally guaranteed to end in 2 minutes, start to end, and the former is going to end much sooner if you're playing competently. At that point, where's the sunk cost fallacy to justify allowing pausing?

Of course, the dynamic of this feature changes a little if you intend on implementing something along the lines of 10kL, but with those modes, more than half the challenge is playing for that long. Contemporary challenges (Jstris 1000L, perhaps 24h Monkeytype or perfect score Pac-Man?) don't have conventional pause buttons afterall.

Please add this functionality at least for solo/Zen! Please ,please, please. And thanks for your effort!
