Brutal/Impossible Tournament Seed? #47

Hello there!

First, thanks to the devs for making this randomizer, it is really a lot of fun.

So, I have been playing since a couple of weeks and I was thinking that I was finally up to the challenge of playing on the tournament difficulty after 15/20 seeds on previous difficulties. I know the required basics such as walljumping/mockball/gate glitch/infinite bomb jump... but there is maybe an advance/obscure trick that I am unaware of so I might be wrong about the following.

The thing is that it seems that I found one really tough/impossible tournament seed (TX7690357) for my very first pick here.

So far I have :

Brinstar is 100% done besides Waterway for the major items, X-Ray isn't possible with what I have afaik. I did Gauntlet without high-jumps boots (was an E-Tank). I defeated Kraid and went for the Ice hellrun (was an E-Tank) then joined Bubble Mountain eventually beating Crocomire (was also an E-Tank). But still no suits, no speedbooster, no grapple, no bombs and no high/space jump to attempt anything here. I can't go to Wrecked Ship, nor Maridia nor Lower Norfair.

As I don't think it is possible to get on the top of Bubble Mountain without hi-jump, I tried for two hours an hardcore hellrun from Bubble Mountain to Wave/Speedbooster, making it only once with like 20 HP before dying as soon as I entered the next room. The spiky tunnel is a nightmare without hi-jump and I can't afford a single d-boost as it is 60dmg and a trip into the acid without an easy way out.

Can someone check that seed and tell me the way for that part of the seed? Also, is all tournament seed supposed to be that brutal? Hard is like a breath compared to Tournament!

I beat that seed 100%. You can either CWJ the moat to get to the Wrecked Ship, but that's very hard, or you can do what I did and run through Bubble Mountain and get the Wave Beam and Speed Booster location items by using a Crystal Flash when you run out of energy. My ammo was 45 70 30, which is more than enough to get through.

I feel stupid forgetting about crystal flash, thanks for reminding that one! It would be handy for my next hellruns or the potential lower norfair hellruns incoming. I wasn't aware of that CWJ trick at the moat though, it looks very interesting for an early wrecked ship.

I finished the seed after d-boosting all the way to X-Ray which took me like 3h but I found Varia there lol! Norfair was surely a lot easier afterwards. :)

Also, I played like 5-6 other seeds which were all a lot easier so my guess is that I picked a tougher seed at first although it is easy with crystal flashing.

Anyway, thanks you very much for the quick answer! I should check online stuff more often before asking about dumb stuff :P

I didn't know that it was possible to damage boost to the X-Ray room. I thought that you needed Grapple/Ice/Bombs/SpaceJump to get there.
