By the time you get to Spore Spawn, it's possible to get the following: Morph Ball (Morph Ball) Screw Attack (Bomb) 5 Energy Tanks (Right of Morph Ball, first E-Tank in vanilla, Mockball Room, Charge Beam, and Attic E-Tank) 14 Missiles (I'm not listing all of them) 5 Power Bombs (Charge Beam Missile)

I've checked the attic and the area to the right of the Morph Ball. There are simply no Super Missiles to be had. There's no way to pass the green door into Red Brinstar or the green door to the right of your ship.

You go to the right of Morph Ball, as far right as you can go, use a Power Bomb to get through the blocks (the ones on the bottom and the block at the top of the shaft), then you do a running jump through the door to get on top of the invisible platform. There are Super Missiles in the next room.
