Describe the feature and the current behavior/state
At the moment, the feature “align columns” aligns the alignment characters & in the TeX Code.
I request that it also supports other character sequences as alignment points, most importantly (for me), \&.
Who will benefit with this feature?
Anyone who uses TikZ' and tikz-cd's ampersand replacement=\&-feature.
Any Other info
When working with tabular material in TikZ (e.g., using tikz-cd, or TikZ' \matrix command), it is often customary to use the option ampersand replacement=\& which, well, makes \& and not & the code for alignment points. For example, when using tikz-cd, this is necessary if matrices occur e.g. as labels of arrows inside a commutative diagram. This is also necessary if one places a tikz-cd diagram on a beamer slide, unless one wants to use the [fragile] option of beamer.
