Not Urgent : Maximum number of loans per member. #238

Closed meteos77 closed 2 years ago

meteos77 commented 2 years ago

According to my tests

The Member/Site/Maximum Reserved Books defined in the member manager is not taken into account when lending so a user can borrow more than his maximum allowed.

in the example, the user can borrow a maximum of 6 books and 9 are already borrowed Capture-MaximumBook-TotalBooksReserved

the 1st big lack is the management of the hand shower it starts to improve with the modification of the BA tool

to be able to borrow or return books with a minimum of manipulations/clicks is essential.

4 items reserved and returned in 51 seconds. Next is to change BA and compute speediness.

meteos77 commented 2 years ago

my speediness counter is not in seconds but in clicks and Handling of the hand shower and mouse recovery

meteos77 commented 2 years ago

14 mouse clicks for 4 items and the documents are visible in the same page (1 time cursor)

13 clicks.

Without a scanner.

textbrowser commented 2 years ago

When I go to the library.

  1. Use their Web-based interface to find the items.
  2. Look for the items in the library.
  3. Scan my ID.
  4. Scan my items.

1 and #2 take a long time.

In BQ you can be reserving items and adding items to the database. In the same mode! You can also be editing items, adding members. How does it differ? A simple account. I don't have to "wait until I exit this panel and enter patron mode."

textbrowser commented 2 years ago

And you can have different BQ processes for specific tasks: editing, membership, patrons, etc.

textbrowser commented 2 years ago

The data is primary followed by modifying a model to fit scanning processes which are not naturally included. That is, a mouse and keyboard model alongside a virtual mouse and keyboard model. A mixture. Have you seen when you cannot scan an item because the barcode is funky and/or does not include text? Yah. Library software is made for scanners and not for keyboards. You'll have to interact with the screen to locate your item. It transforms into a point-of-sale software. Those require presses.

I want to see a library interface that's not a Web browser on a Pi. Or a PowerPC. Or a darn Sparc!

meteos77 commented 2 years ago

the pi are out of stock :-(

textbrowser commented 2 years ago

Or an ancient laptop.

textbrowser commented 2 years ago

Or a computer without Internet access.

textbrowser commented 2 years ago

Zippy stuff solutions!

meteos77 commented 2 years ago

the scanner part of BiblioteQ works perfectly if you do a test with the 4 books at hand to scan the barcodes in 10 seconds, it's done

meteos77 commented 2 years ago

in fact we meet some of your criteria

textbrowser commented 2 years ago

You should install Papyrus and / or the other one on an Android tablet. They'll be perfect!

meteos77 commented 2 years ago

4. Scan my items.

1 and #2 take a long time.

1 and #2 is it's fun

3 and #4 it's administrative

meteos77 commented 2 years ago

I found a site that has the archive of the demo (not tested) https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/utilitaires/16897-papyrus2000/

textbrowser commented 2 years ago

I'll try to finish this today and post a video. If not, another day.

meteos77 commented 2 years ago

take your time, it's already good for today

good end of the day

textbrowser commented 2 years ago

You too. See ya.

textbrowser commented 2 years ago

Done.

meteos77 commented 2 years ago

I think you are going for a 5 star feature!

I'm creating a new ticket, because the feature deserves a highlight

meteos77 commented 2 years ago

1 click - select the Batch Activities Browser tool barcode scanning 1 click - In the member ID area 1 click to validate

you can borrow 4 or 20 documents the number of click will always be 3 : PERFECT

meteos77 commented 2 years ago

But if you're still on the edge, I think BQ is not for you!

when I see the progress in Batch Activities, I think the opposite or that I will fall on the right side :-)

textbrowser commented 2 years ago

Completed.
