Situation

As a former panel page, this page was slated for reworking in the new docs architecture. Because of the nature of diagnostics as a troubleshooting panel, it naturally should remain, but with some revised focus and at it's new location in /setup.

Known docs that link to this page

(Certainly an incomplete list.) Do not include anything from /installation/ or /administration directories, which is all being phased out.

NTS: When the path to the /files folder is wrong or not writable, and a user role can't see the Diagnostics panel (e.g., Designer), the warning is displayed to the user at the top of the relevant panel (e.g., Files). This page is now hooked up via index2 under /setup. It began as a duplicate of the original Diagnostics panel doc, which is still sitting in old /administration, and for all intended purposes is now obsolete.

The new page has been reformatted, new ToC added, and a number of copy edits made. I also added a new include here (and to the Installing the software doc), which is called by an endnote (in this case), but could be called anywhere, regarding the bugaboo many people have with setting a secure chmod on directories.

What I see now is a fair number of 'Diagnostics info' items and a few red and yellow alerts that still need descriptions. Somebody with more technical savvy should have a look at those now.
