Provide an endpoint/service that GF instances can phone to check that they've configured their self-hosting properly:

A little service that provides a feedback that tells you

is your domain directing properly
dyndyns working?
firewall ports running correctly?
support search engine indexing. robots.txt? sitemap?? i.e. have the master index pretend its a search engine and see what they'd see
