User-friendly NFT Ticketing System for Cultural Institutions

NFTs are a decentralized way of tracking ownership, and a growing phenomenon in the digital art market. The purpose of this bounty is to explore how this technology could become part of the fascinating cultural history of ticketing. Physical tickets have often had significance beyond their function of proving one’s right of admittance - often having been created as works of art on their own, and becoming collectibles, cultural symbols of the institutions or events they were issued for.

In this age of digital ticketing, when a ticket is often little more than a QR code on an invoice, can NFTs continue the tradition of the ticket surviving the event?

In this bounty, we are looking for an open-source framework for issuing tickets on the Tezos blockchain as tokens, and offering friendly user flows for gaining admittance to events using these NFT tickets (and to control admittance at the gate).

Hints and Guidelines

What is important to a cultural institution in an NFT ticketing system:

The overhead at ticket control should be negligible. Any involved user journey (such as signing with one’s wallet) should be doable before - think of online flight check-ins as a model.
Provide easy and friendly onboarding for potential visitors unfamiliar with cryptocurrencies, including fiat money payment solutions.

Keep in mind:

Neither personal information, nor the unsalted hash of such is permitted to be written to the blockchain
There is ample motivation for abusing a ticketing system in different ways; your design should be threat-aware, and built to withstand attempts to subvert it
Consider the different types of tickets that exist, and could exist
- Single-use, traditional tickets
- Season passes, which are single-use for each event in the season
- Membership passes, which allow entry unlimited times to members-only events
- A single-use ticket that post facto becomes a season pass or membership pass \ (eg. after a gallery opening event, a closing fest is held, accessible to those who hold the original opening event tickets)

Implementation requirements

Submissions must be open source (MIT license) and documented. A demo environment for testing should be deployed on the working testnet.

Judging criteria

Technical:

Does the code work?
Is it secure?
Is it fit for the stated purpose?
Is the integrator documentation clear and easy to follow?
How easy is it for integrators to make use of it?

Design and UX:

Do user flows support user agency (through direct flows, meaningful feedback, and clear explanations)?
Do the interfaces use consistent, accessibility-minded patterns?
Is the in-person interaction at the gate seamless and quick?

Prize:

$12000 in tez for the best submission

$2000 in tez for runner up

We reserve the right to not pay out prizes if none of the applicable submissions meet the minimum criteria.
