Hi, what is your graphics card vendor and what is your DirectX level on TF2C?
To check your graphics card vendor, go to your Windows settings > System > Display > Advanced display settings.
To check your DirectX level, type mat_dxlevel
into the TF2C console.
My DirectX level is 90 For graphics im using Intel UHD Graphics 620
Thanks. What happens if you type +mat_dxlevel 95
into the console and then check out the flame particles?
Do you have any “performance configs”? Or other substantial sorts of tweaky stuff in your cfg files?
I ask because those sorts of things can occasionally cause odd stuff to happen in certain circumstances. Many convar tweaks, and various bits and pieces of “performance configs” are legitimately fine. But there does tend to be an awful lot of cargo-cult wisdom as well as messing-around-with-convars-without-the-slightest-idea-what-they-do type stuff that goes on in Source Engine performance config / convar tweak land.
So, it could be relevant to the issue if any such tweaks or premade configs are part of your installation.
(And none of this should be read to imply that there isn’t a bug situation.)
well i did add a engineer bind config for the buildings also i noticed when it dosent work the console says in red "attempted to create unknow particle system "flamethrower_red"" and "attempting to precache unknow particle system "flamethrower_red""
well i did add a engineer bind config for the buildings
Okay that’s probably fine.
also i noticed when it dosent work the console says in red "attempted to create unknow particle system "flamethrower_red"" and "attempting to precache unknow particle system "flamethrower_red""
This does look relevant, thanks.
also i changed the mat_dxlevel to 95 but it didnt seem to change on some servers it seems to works and others not i initially tough it was not working on official but it seems to work on some, tho the particles shown are the current particles in normal tf2 maybe it dosent detect the classic flame particles ?
and i was currently testing in a 4 team server and the particles dont show when im on the red team but show when im on the blu , green or yellow team edit: in the red team it worked at the end of the round when it had crits, but it still showed the red messages on the console regardless edit2: after further testing in diferent servers it seems that the problem is mainly happening when im playing in the red team
Thanks for the information. I'll look into it. Out of curiosity, where is your installation located? It shouldn't be using live TF2's particles as a fallback.
Its located in the Programs(x86)/Steam/steamapps/sourcemods Tho tf2classic is in my C: drive while tf2 is in my D: drive
Hi, please put this file in your tf2classic/particles
folder:
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/453544902689816579/984215846475923576/flamethrower.pcf
Then, relaunch the game and try playing around on the red team. Let me know if this fixes anything.
Could you verify, is this on Windows? And if so, what version of Windows?
It is on Windowns 10 home, version 21H2
Looking at the tf2classic folder i dont see a particles folder should i create one and place it inside it ?
Yes, create one.
After placing the file on the particles folder i still cant see the particles from red pyro's flamethrower Tho i think i also couldnt see enemy pyro's particles regardless of the team but for now it seems to be only afecting red pyros Edit: to clarify it seems to be only afecting the flamethrower firing particles, i can see the flames when on an enemy when it is on fire
Thanks for letting us know. We're looking into a fix. For now, delete that file and continue playing as normal.
Thanks for looking in to it Keep up the good work
The first time i launched tf2classic i could see what i assume is the old flame particles from the early versions of tf2. Now i dont see the flames when using pyro on some servers and in others i see the new flame particles from the current version of tf2.
