The menuopen command when entered into the console will prevent oneself from respawning until either menuclosed is used or the class select menu is opened and closed. The reason why this works is unknown to me (i think it's to do with the class select screen) but that's irrelevant for the purposes of this report.
The VIP can use this to prevent themselves from respawning, effectively guaranteeing a loss for their team unless someone else is voted to be the VIP.
