Prevent rotation of feeder #15

Closed tfabris closed 5 years ago

The feeder rotates easily. The place where the pole attaches to the bottom of the feeder is allowed to twist easily.

Advantages:

Disadvantages:

Stopping the disadvantages is more important in this case, so add a thumbscrew or some other system to keep the feeder from rotating.

tfabris commented 5 years ago

Feeder rotation has been reduced. Added some tape where pole meets feeder, and CA'd one pair of pole sections which was too easy to rotate.

Feeder can still rotate but it takes some effort now.

If this continues to be a problem, re-open this bug.

Reopening issue. After having messed with the feeder height a bit, it now rotates too much again. May Need to re-tape one of the higher joints and CA one of the lower joints.

Did some more work on it today. Observe its status on the cam tomorrow and see how it does.

tfabris commented 5 years ago

Nope, still needs more work. A squirfuffel today caused it to rotate quite a bit.

Some exterior tape on one of the pole joints appears to have fixed the issue. Closing for now, we'll see how it does in the long run.

It worked OK for a while and I tried tweaking the feeder position a bit. At that point, the "stickiness" of the upper joint (where pole meets feeder) failed and now needs to be re-taped, either with more teflon tape, or some other friction system.

Tried another set of fixes today. Let's see how it does.
