5 years ago This is unrelated to CrowCamKeepAlive or Youtube-dl. In fact it is completely unrelated to my scripts at all. I shut down all of the scripts and the problem kept happening.
I have tried so far:
- Tried running CrowCamKeepAlive in Debug mode on the Synology. It is functioning as designed and it downloads the index file same as before. I also tried downloading and playing one of the .TS files linked in the index file, and that also played back normally. So everything is working as expected.
- Tried shutting down all script activity on the Synology. Problem still exists. In theory, I should be in "Plain" mode now, with my script doing nothing and just the Surveillance station providing the YouTube feed with no alterations or unusual behaviors. This was still exhibiting the problem. And that includes me actually watching the stream on YouTube while I'm doing it, so that alone should have "kept alive" the DVR functionality, and it didn't.
- Tried rebooting the camera itself. Did not fix the problem.
- Tried bouncing the Surveillance Station Live Stream feature by hand (with my scripts turned off). Did not fix the problem.
- Tried completely rebooting the Synology NAS. Did not fix the problem.
- Looked for Synology operating system updates. No updates available.
- Tried updating and saving some of the stream settings that weren't set. For example, language and caption certification. Did not fix the issue.
- Made sure stream was still public and that its streaming key had not changed. No help there, they were all still correct.
- Tried connecting to the actual link to the current video stream as opposed to the parent "/live/" stream link. Did not fix the issue.
- Tried using the "Backup" ingestion target address of rtmp://b.rtmp.youtube.com/live2?backup=1 but that did not fix it either.
- Checked to make sure Comcast wasn't suddenly throttling us. Their web site still says that I'm not using any bandwidth, so that's OK for now.
Promising:
- Checked YouTube "Stream health" in YouTube stream control panel settings. It had only one warning message, and that was about the rez being slightly less than 1080p (a known issue that my camera has - When I set it to 1080p it's actually like 1076p and that makes youtube complain). Investigating further, I saw that the camera rez setting had moved off of its regular 1296p setting and had gone back to 1080p though the stream bandwidth was still at 3072 as before. Tried setting it back to 1296p. Looking to see if this fixes it. Promising so far - It's been several minutes now and the stream has not yet dropped. Crossing fingers.
Something has gone completely wrong. Attempting to watch the live feed results in a video that keeps going black and looping and showing only a 10 second clip before another bloop blackout.
DVR functionality is completely broken.
Possibly related to issue #20 but not sure.
