can't resolve \cm - Githubissues

What steps will reproduce the problem?

use the following 
\layout {
     indent = 0.0\cm % remove indent on first staff
}

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

- the latest
- mac os 10.6

Please provide any additional information below.

- the same error happens with:
  - \in
  - \char
see snippet_fingering
  - and with a custom function that works see attached file "violin functions" and test violin functions.
