Downloading First Frame - Indefinitely #126

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Connecting under any color depth
2. Connecting to a TightVNC
3. Ports are open on firewall and router

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect standard connection, instead indefinitely waits at Downloading First
Frame, back key fails connection, receive no (black) display and barely
functioning local mouse movement. Attempted both over local WiFi and 3G.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
AndroidVNC Version 6, Motorola Droid - TightVNC Server 2.0, Windows 7

Please provide any additional information below.

Correction: After waiting, it has loaded but is unresponsive. Might just be the 
GSM
connection. Hopefully it will work better over a 3G connection.

AndroidVNC Version 7, Samsung i5700 Android 2.1, TightVNC Server 2.0beta3, 
Windows 7

AndroidVNC hangs with "Downloading first frame".

Same setup but using an HTC Desire and xp on pc. Not sure if it helps to know 
I've got a netgear adsl 
router?

Wireless in the lan is fine, the prob is just on the internet

I'm having the same issue. Normal VNC clients can connect, but androidVNC hangs 
on "loading first frame"

In Froyo on Nexus One it takes a while, but it work out eventually at "low 
quality color".

Same issue here.
RealVNC on XP and Vista.
HTC Hero

Downloading of first frame over wifi/LAN is almost instantaneous. But, over 
WAN/Internet takes soooooooooooo long even when set to Black & White low 
resolution. After that it is okay.

The PC acknowledges the connection immediately. Why does it take so long to 
download the frame?

Trying to VNC into my work computer.  I VPN into the intranet through wifi and 
connect, but it gets stuck with "Downloading fist frame.  Please wait...".  Any 
solutions out there?  Happens with regular VNC server and TightVNC server.

Same here. I've been checking this thread regularly for some sort of 
acknowledgment or update. Does anyone know what's up?

FWIW, the Android doesn't ever display the desktop, but the host machine for me 
DOES receive an incoming connection.

Same issue here with win7x64 ultravnc server. Samsung Galxy S with Froyo. But I 
have the error on Wifi/Wlan

Same Problem
Server: Vista 32 Tight VNC
Viewer: Moto Droid 2.3.3 Gingerbread

VNC works when using PocketCloud

Update!

Following recommendations in this thread

I was able to connect by following the dotpoints supplied below

1) Make sure your mac screen resolution is not larger than 1280x800 (that a 
huge limitation but for now there 
is no other option unless some nice developer comes to our rescue ;D hint-hint!)
2) Type in all the required info such as Password, IP and port in your Android 
VNC client
3) Select "24-bit color (4 bpp)" in the "Color Format" drop-down menu
4) Clear the checkbox "Force full-screen bitmap" 
5) Hit connect
