Confusing UI behavior #266

On Droid 3, controlling XP box 1024x768ZRLE encon64 color 1bpp
Touch mouse pad and Zoom
Pan follows mouse; zoomable; local-cursor thing is on

TightVNC sever (most recent version)

Sometimes it works brilliantly - the D-pad (arrow keys on key board)
moves the mouse pointer, the OK button clicks (and one can double click with 
it), and alphanumeric keystrokes go to the XP windows control with the focus.  

Other times, this does not work, D-pad pans or does nothing, alphanumeric 
keystrokes go to some local dictionary with displays type-ahead guessing in a 
small-height full-width window with a white backtground.  OK does nothing.  

What is going on, and how do I get back to the "good state".

PS.  Actually, I have a way back to the "good state", but it is hard to believe 
this was  "by design".  Do the Send text thing (including sending it), and you 
are back to the "good state".
