Add countdown timers #14

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

It would be useful to define alarms as a period of time. Under "Add Alarm"
you could add a third state to the AM/PM toggle (maybe blank?). Each time the
alarm is enabled the activation time would be calculated as an offset from the
current time... basically just a kitchen timer.

This is a little out of the 'alarm clock' context, but a bunch of other people
have asked for it to. I'll see if I can throw something together for the
release after this one.

My thought is that Alarm Klock would make a great Pomodoro timer -- set a 50
minute timer with a 10 minute snooze -- enable at the start of the day and
repeat.

This feature request should also include the ability to make the countdown
timer stop firing after a configurable number of seconds.

I also would be glad to see it. And it IS an alarm clock related since it's
perfect for taking power naps :-)

Since it is a "Klock" it also has time-measuring functionality.. I'm thinking
stopwatch function would not be too far out of context for this one. I didn't
know whether to file a new one or to keep it here, so if you think I should
create a separate ticket, I'll do it.

I don't understand how a countdown timer would be out of the alarm clock
context. I use countdown timers for naps all the time. I switched to Alarm
Klock for the “alarm volume fade” feature, but now miss the countdown timer
feature, as I always take 20 minute naps. There are wonderful things that can
be done with naps:
