OGG(?) files take 2-3 seconds to start #85

I listen to Rathole Radio using the OGG feed http://feeds2.feedburner.com/RatholeRadio-ogg and I've noticed when I press play it takes a couple of seconds to start playing the file. This often causes me to hit play again so that when the file does start playing it pauses a split second later.

This is something that has happened for a while, I've only just thought to report it.

Does other apps have this delay?

I'll try this out as soon as I can. Just waiting for the next episode to be released which should be any day now.

so I opened the ogg file with Google music player and it did take 1-2seconds longer than an mp3 to open. next I shall test if it's just this ogg source or others. android vlc started playing immediately.

There's a good chance that it's the built-in OGG decoder that is the problem. Podax does not do anything with the files except send them to the MediaPlayer. Android VLC probably has its own decoder and doesn't use the MediaPlayer. Because I don't know what I can do in Podax to fix this problem, I'm going to close this issue.

Just to confirm this does not seem to be an issue with Android 4.1.
