About every half hour since installing the latest rewrite, I'm getting notification emails from Apple saying:

Your Apple ID was used to sign in to iMessage on iPhone 6s Plus

Is this expected?

Yeah, I've had this happen as well, getting notifications like that every few hours. Turning off iMessage on the iPhone might help with this.
