Minor spec changes #30

Hey @ryanbnl @pknowl ,

With this PR, we propose the following changes:

change conditional overlay syntax so it now matches Lua
improve the example clarity for conditional overlay

These two changes bump the spec to 1.0.1

The content change looks good, but could we split the formatting changes into a different PR so that we can keep the PRs focussed?

@ryanbnl @pknowl can we merge that one? splitting PR does not make much of the difference since all changes are encapsulated within separate commits so there is clear history what was done and we do rebase anyway so there is no merge commit.

If there is no other reason to keep it open I will merge it and close this PR.
