The crest and tape recorder are acting strangely #19

>LOOK
(You are in the first-floor corridor.)
The first-floor corridor is lined with doors. To the west, a heavy oak door with
ancient wrought-iron fittings bears a bronze bas-relief of the Tresyllian family
crest, marking this as the master bedroom of the castle. Other doors lead to the
northwest, east, northeast, and southeast. Stairways go up at the south end and
down at the north end.

>GET CREST
By removing the family crest from its place, you can see that a small secret
tape recorder is built into the door.

>GET CREST
You are now holding the family crest.

>PUT CREST ON TAPE RECORDER
The family crest fits neatly over the secret tape recorder.

>EXAMINE TAPE RECORDER
(You can't see any tape recorder right here!)

>FIND CREST
You have it.

So getting the crest doesn't actually remove it (the first time), and putting the crest back leaves it in your inventory. This is handled by CREST-F:

       (<EQUAL? ,VARIATION ,LORD-C>
    <COND (<AND <VERB? LOOK-BEHIND LOOK-UNDER MOVE MOVE-DIR
               REMOVE TAKE TAKE-OFF>
            <NOT <IN? ,JACK-TAPE ,HERE>>>
           <MOVE ,JACK-TAPE ,HERE>
           ;<FSET ,JACK-TAPE ,SEENBIT>
           ;<MOVE ,CREST ,HERE>
           <FSET ,CREST ,TAKEBIT>
           <FCLEAR ,CREST ,NDESCBIT>
           <TELL
"By removing the " 'CREST " from its place, you can see that a small
" 'JACK-TAPE " is built into the door." CR>)
          (<AND <VERB? PUT>
            <IOBJ? JACK-ROOM JACK-TAPE>
            <IN? ,JACK-TAPE ,HERE>>
           <MOVE ,JACK-TAPE ,LOCAL-GLOBALS>
           ;<MOVE ,CREST ,HERE>
           ;<FCLEAR ,CREST ,TAKEBIT>
           <FSET ,CREST ,NDESCBIT>
           <TELL
"The " 'CREST " fits neatly over the " 'JACK-TAPE "." CR>)>)>>

So there is code to move the crest back, but it has been commented out. Maybe the intention was to make the crest not takeable, but whatever the intention it was left half-done?
