>DRINK WATER
You can't see any water here!

>DRINK FROM POOL
How peculiar!

>DRINK POOL
The water is extremely salty.

It probably wouldn't cause any problems adding "WATER" as a synonym for the pool, since the only (?) other water is probably still in the bucket at the start of the "Alice" area. Other than that, it should be enough to change this part of POOL-FCN:

     <COND (<VERB? DRINK>
        <TELL
"The water is extremely salty." CR>)

to check for <VERB? DRINK DRINK-FROM>. I haven't actually tested it, though.
